My aunt also was teaching me every afternoon after school she would get a certain grade level book and she would tell me to sound the words out and I would say them and they would be correct I would also get a pencil and a piece of paper and write down all the words at least 3 to 5 times each maybe I will catch on to others when they speak to other people I would sound out the vowel sounds that helped me out a lot too.
I knew it would take time though just keep practicing practice makes perfect so I would practice every single day after school when I made it into the door I would put my backpack down and get out a book to read begin on the words sounding them out and get pencil and paper write them down every time I say them out loud my grandma would stand beside me and listen to me say them and write them down as I go. She said that I am getting better and better I was proud that she was proud of me I felt like I was achieving a huge goal I accomplished my goal too.
My teacher would see me enter the room each day and when I entered I would sit down and begin to read she would wink and smile at me then I would smile back at her with happiness I was so happy and joyful I didn’t know what to do but with huge words it would take time though I was good but not great I know it was ok though because my teacher told me I will get them someday I wrote the words down that I struggled with and say them 5 times each until I get them correctly then I finally got them.
I knew that it was easy as I became older I would think about the times then would I come across the word I would say to myself “I remember I was struggling with this word.” I would laugh because it was very hilarious to me but it was ok though. That’s how I began to read thanks to my family and teachers
